WaterSafe celebrates 10 years of protecting the UK’s drinking water quality

This month, WaterSafe celebrates 10 years of protecting the UK’s drinking water quality.

WaterSafe was founded in 2013 by the existing approved contractor schemes, Water UK, and the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, supported by all the water companies across the UK.

There have been many changes over the last ten years, with specialist contractors, namely water supply pipe installers and reduced pressure zone valve testers, joining the ranks and Thames Water closing their approved contractor schemes to join the Water Industry Approved Plumbing Scheme (WIAPS).

Recent research proves just how vital it is for the scheme to continue as almost half of plumbers surveyed last year said they fix other installers’ work, or DIY jobs, every day.

This is a staggering number and demonstrates just how vital it is that households and businesses only use a suitably qualified, approved, plumber.

The strength of WaterSafe is its coverage of the whole UK, and we hope the scheme will only increase in number over the years.
