We are inviting those involved in plumbing and heating education to take part in a free online webinar on Friday 30 April to join the discussion around the review of The Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship, to assess whether it is still fit for purpose for training centres across the country.
This process will help to improve the quality of the apprenticeship standards to make sure they meet the needs of both employers and apprentices, which are written by the industry for the industry, when it comes to defining the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for occupational standards.
Graeme Dryden, Deputy CEO & Technical Services Manager at APHC, comments: “To ensure that those at all levels across education are equally represented in this review, we are looking for enthusiastic trainers, lecturers and assessors in the plumbing arena in England* to come together to share their experience and direction.
“We are inviting these key people to join a free online webinar to learn more, feedback, discuss and ultimately share their views on the apprenticeship. We will focus on the following key areas:
- Review of the Occupational Profile against new criteria;
- Review of the Assessment Plan against new criteria;
- Review of the current pathways including the need for a new commercial, or more specialist plumbing pathway;
- Technology updates;
- Funding review.
Graeme Dryden adds: “The plumbing industry has a huge pool of apprentices and rely on them to develop the quality skills needed; this review will help provide employers with the right apprenticeships needed with the right level of excellence.”
The webinar will be taking place on Friday 30 April at 2.00pm – 3.30pm, and include open discussion, interactive polls, and time for breakout sessions and smaller discussion groups.
